Divorce and separation in England and Wales can take several forms. We work with clients at every stage of the journey: those just beginning to explore separation, couples who want to resolve matters amicably, and individuals facing complex or high-conflict situations.
Divorce and Separation
Since the introduction of No-fault divorce in April 2022, couples no longer need to assign blame to legally end a marriage. Instead, a simple statement confirming the marriage has irretrievably broken down is sufficient. However, while the legal process may now be simpler, the practical and emotional aspects—particularly around finances, children, and living arrangements—still require thoughtful and skilled legal guidance. Hence we offer legal guidance depending on your personal, religious, or financial circumstances.

Frequently Asked Questions

Under the no-fault divorce system, the process takes a minimum of 26 weeks (about 6 months), including a mandatory 20-week reflection period and a 6-week wait after the Conditional Order before the Final Order can be granted. However, resolving finances or child arrangements may extend the timeline.

Not usually. Most divorces are now processed online and do not require a court hearing, especially if the split is amicable and finances or child arrangements are agreed. However, court involvement may be needed if disputes arise over assets, custody, or support.

You can opt for a legal separation or draw up a separation agreement. These options allow you to live apart and formally arrange finances or parenting responsibilities without legally ending the marriage. This is often preferred for religious, financial, or timing reasons
