Sponsor Licence
If your UK business wants to hire skilled workers from outside the UK, you’ll need a Sponsor Licence. This licence allows you to legally sponsor foreign nationals under the Skilled Worker, Senior or Specialist Worker, or other routes under the UK’s Points-Based Immigration System.
The application process is detailed and subject to strict Home Office criteria. You must prove that your business is genuine, has a legitimate need for overseas talent, and is capable of complying with sponsor duties—such as record-keeping and reporting. Once granted, your licence is valid for 4 years and enables you to issue Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) to suitable candidates.
At AAGA Solicitors, we guide employers through the entire process—from assessing eligibility and preparing your application to ensuring HR compliance and avoiding refusal risks. We also assist with renewing, expanding, or upgrading your sponsor licence as your organisation grows.
